the venue guide: 15 hudson valley & catskills wedding venues we’d drop everything for

Sorted by the kind of wedding you actually want to throw.

We’ve been photographing weddings in New York for over ten years, and the Hudson Valley and Catskills are where we keep coming back. These are the venues at the top of our list for 2027. All of them made the cut for the same reason: they make it easy for a couple to throw a wedding that feels like them.

We didn’t sort these by county. We sorted them by vibe, because that’s how you’ll actually choose. Find your category, then fall in love.

best catskills and hudson valley venues for a weekend-long celebration

For the couple who wants everyone on site, a welcome party Friday and a hungover brunch Sunday. (we’re pretty partial to this - its exactly what we did and people still talk about our weekend long wedding 7 years later. The talent show in place of rehearsal definitely helped.)

Gather Greene · Greene County
Ok the aesthetics here are insane. I love the wood and the angles and the raw space you can make 100% your own. And the fact that your people can stay on site with you makes it extra special.
Good for: couples who want the whole crew under one roof.

Cedar Lakes Estate · Port Jervis
Summer camp nostalgia, lakes, the full-weekend buyout. The kind of wedding setting that feels like you’re wayyyy further than 90 minutes from NYC.
Good for: the summer camp wedding, grown up.

Full Moon Resort · Big Indian
Deep in the Catskills, zero service, and an old school road house that’s perfect for a talent show (ask us how we know)
Good for: couples who care more about the band than the centerpieces.

wedding venues for the party that doesn’t end

For the couple who is looking very much forward to the afterparty

Basilica Hudson · Hudson
A truly special reclaimed industrial space, raw and big, made for a dance floor. Witnessed a couple enter their reception through the big doors in a vintage fiat. 10/10 no notes.
Good for: the art-kid wedding with a serious DJ.

Gilbertsville Farmhouse · Gilbertsville (worth the drive)
A little outside the Hudson Valley and Catskills, and here for one reason: no curfew. We’ve follwed multiple sets of broadway royalty here, its set back for ultimate privacy and perfect for an extended party.
Good for: couples who plan to close the party down themselves.

lasshouse inspired by French orangeries, limited weddings each year, complete with a farmhouse on site that sleeps 10.
Good for: the couple who wants something genuinely rare.

H3: Opus 40 · Saugerties
An artist spent decades building a bluestone sculpture park out of an old quarry, and now you can get married in it. No lodging on site, so plan for guests to stay nearby.
Good for: creative couples who want their wedding to feel like an art piece.

hudson valley & catskills wedding venue FAQs

How far are Hudson Valley and Catskills venues from NYC?
Anywhere from just under an hour to 3+

When is the best time to get married in the Hudson Valley?
Of course the foliage is iconic in the hudson valley and catkills, but add that with warm days and cool nights. The fall is popular for a reason. But there’s something extra intimate and special about a winter wedding here. Late spring is still nice (once the leaves are back on the trees). Mid summer is a gamble with the humidity, so be sure to have an indoor plan.

Do I need a weekend venue or a day-of venue?
You don’t need anything, but in our experience as experienced wedding pros (and former as a couple who also got married in the Hudson Valley) make a weekend of it. You won’t regret the extra time.

How far in advance should I book a Hudson Valley wedding venue?
To ensure your top choice during peak season, book more than a year in advance. Otherwise, be ready with plan B (and C)

Planning a wedding at one of these, or somewhere we should know about? We’re New York wedding photographers who shoot all over the Hudson Valley, Catskills and New England, and we’d love to hear about it. Let’s talk about your wedding.
