01 · LETTER FROM THE EDITORS

Hello, we're Amanda & Joe

We're Amanda and Joe Vellekamp, a wife and husband team of photographers. We're artists, we're professionals, and we make really fun wedding guests.

We know when to step back and when to direct, and we care deeply about getting you a real picture of your wedding day. With over 10 years of experience shooting every type of wedding, all over the place, we'll be a calming presence while making sure you get a gallery you won't be able to stop looking at.

“We promise variety, depth and soul in your wedding photos.”

02 · TWO ARTISTS

Two artists, two distinct perspectives

While one of us is at the altar with you, the other is capturing everyone watching you say your vows. While you're doing portraits, the other is catching your guests arriving.

Most teams are a lead and a second shooter covering the same moment from two angles. We're two lead artists, each telling a different part of your story.

Couples tell us they still don't know how we got all the shots we got.

FROM AMANDA

I'm always scanning. Popping outside to see if the sunset's going to be a good one, chasing cool light, clocking the groomsman who's about to do the worm. I'm after three shots at every wedding: the effortless, editorial couples portrait, the wide frame that shows the whole picture, and the young, sexy party shot.

My favorite moments are the quiet ones, sitting back and watching you with the people you love most. I'm a Taurus who lives for aesthetics, so if you put thought into your wedding, I will notice it and give it the love it deserves.

Amanda

Editorial portraits, candid everything else

Hopefully you can tell from our work that with us you get the perfect mix of editorial portraiture and a candid documentary approach. We read the room and know when to step in and when to sit back and observe.

morning

We read the morning

Sometimes we split up so each of you has one of us while you get ready. Sometimes we stick together. We let what's happening, and our experience, decide.

FROM JOE

I like to be in the middle of everything without anyone noticing I'm there. Cocktail hour, the ceremony, the dance floor: I'm basically another guest who happens to take really good photos. I'm always looking for an angle most guests, and definitely the two of you, would never see, plus the looks, smiles and tears happening all around you.

Ask me what I'm listening to or where I ate last. Right now it's a band you probably haven't heard of yet (Angine de Poitrine) and a restaurant you need to try (Leeward in Portland, Maine. It never misses).

Joe

“HDYDGAOSHTJATANDJSYAJRIGAIA. That's us trying to form words through our tears and excitement… we love you guys so much and your talent is absolutely offensive.”

Twice the artistry

Two artists, two ways of seeing. Your gallery holds both of our takes on your day, each with its own eye for light, people and the in-between.

“They make it seem like you're hanging out with friends you've known for years and can pull out the real you instead of the posed you.”

Moments alone

We make sure you get a few minutes to yourselves. After all the planning and everything it took to get here, you deserve a quiet moment together to soak it all in.

Hold the cheese

Ring balanced on a flower, dress hanging in the window, the veil toss: we skip the shots you've seen a thousand times and go after the ones only your day could inspire.
